Update and the behind the scenes work starts

The work has started behind the scenes to bring this beautiful book to life. I have the ebook formatting in hand and am making the bundles for those who ordered the sets of 3 ebooks. There is even a very early start to the bonus scene, which I'm hoping will have echos of Wentworth's famous (and heartbreaking!) I am half-hope, half-agony letter.
With the war affecting oil prices, and therefore the cost of shipping, I went ahead and ordered and paid for the hardcovers this week. Ouch is all I will say on that matter! There will be an update when the books ship, but the printer in China advises it will be about 3 months before they land in the US.
I will be sending out surveys either today or tomorrow. A teeny batch has already gone out just to check everything is working as it should, and the remainder will follow. The survey is very important if you backed using an Apple ID, as I need an email address for digital rewards.

Kia ora my marvellous supporters,
We closed out having more than met my expectations and we unlocked: a ribbon bookmark, a bonus scene from Oliver's POV, a Clipper sticker, and watercolour versions of the part illustrations. I spent the weekend out in the garden recharging my batteries and then took myself off to see Wuthering Heights (I have opinions about that! lol)
What happens now? Kickstarter will endeavour to collect everyone's pledge. Unfortunately there are quite a number of errored pledges (which can happen for all sorts of reasons). I will be reaching out to those backers to see if we can get things fixed.
From here, I need to write the bonus scene, finish formatting the print books, get final drafts, and organise stickers and the other stretch goals. In many ways the end of a campaign means that start of the work. A survey will be sent out in the next few weeks to ensure we have the correct addresses for the physical rewards, and the best email address for the digital ones. I will keep you updated about what is happening behind the scenes as I have these books printed and delivered into your hands.

Mea culpa and a fix

Let me start with an apology to backers who live in the Southern Hemisphere. When I created this campaign I thought all books had to be dispatched from the US, which is why the postage is a rather large chunk to swallow if you live in New Zealand, Australia, or Singapore. Only part way through did I learn I can have the shipment of books split in two and have the bulk sent to the US, but a little box of them can ride the waves to me in New Zealand.
Huzzah! I thought. I can amend the shipping for those countries that I can fulfill from here. It was at this point, dear reader, I learned Kickstarter won't let me amend the shipping once the campaign is live.
Bother. But I shall not be outwitted! I have a fix for current backers, but it involves a few steps and you will need to take my hand as we weave among the other dancers...
1. If you scroll to the very top of the page you will see a green button that says MANAGE MY PLEDGE. Click on that.
2. On the next screen you will see what you have currently backed and a white button saying CHANGE YOUR PLEDGE. Click that one.
3. This will take you to a screen with all the available rewards. If you scroll down, I have created a duplicate special edition hardcover tier that is called DOWNUNDER SHIPPING. You will be able to switch to that book instead. Please note this is only available for backers in Australia, Singapore and New Zealand.
4. Once you switch to the book with the new shipping amounts, please make sure it has dropped your original pledge. I'd hate for you to be charged twice!
If you live Downunder and haven't backed this gorgeous book because of the high postage, all you have to do is select the Downunder Shipping tier 😊

Kia Ora from a very wet and soggy New Zealand. I have started working on my bonus scene and sent off an email to my printer to let them know we are full steam ahead on this project. I have asked about splitting the shipment between New Zealand and the USA, so I can potentially fulfill Downunder orders from here. I just need to figure out new postage amounts for NZ and Australia - which involves a tape measure, scales, and two cats.
